This book offers readers a deeper insight into the art of conversation, especially the essential virtues that must be cultivated to become a person of character and persuasiveness in everyday communication.
When engaging with others, one should avoid taking a condescending tone, being pretentious, mocking, speaking carelessly, acting impulsively, or eagerly trying to argue. Instead, one should speak less, listen more, offer praise when appropriate, seek harmony, and always speak with sincerity.
The book is part of the “Personal Development Bookshelf” (Tủ sách Học làm người) by scholar Hoàng Xuân Việt. He formerly served as the principal of the School of Humanistic Sociology (1966–1975) and the Nguyễn Trãi Institute of Classical Vietnamese and Personal Development (1993–2001). He is the author of over 300 books across various fields, most notably in personal growth and moral education.
